performanceIt is always a privilege and a joy to bring people together through live musical performance. Over thirty years I have been on an amazing journey with classical music, singing operatic roles in wonderful places, giving recitals in foreign countries and with fabulous people alongside me.  I am especially pleased with the success of my one-woman show A Diva Dismantled which takes a humourous look at the life of a classical singer.

Current Projects

A Diva Dismantled
Christine Bunning presents a fast-paced evening of songs and anecdotes from a rich and varied career on the stage.  Learn more about A Diva Dismantled.

Eagle 4
Christine Bunning is joined by eminent musicians Kate Elmitt piano, Catherine Wilmers cello, and Diana Levitas violin, making up the unique Eagle4 quartet.

eagle4With our slightly batty “A box of bees” featuring the music of Britten, Brahms, Beethoven and Bernstein, we began a cycle of themed concerts. Our eclectic mix of music arranged for this combination of instruments makes our concerts varied and full of rare musical delights. Three programmes are available; “Box of Bees” “Starting with S”  "A is for Arlesey" and “Medley and Meze”

oper2goWith fellow soprano Wendy Brennan, Christine has designed two delightful programmes; “Songs of love and romance”  is a programme of French Melodies and German Lieder and “Popular Opera Duets” includes the music of Mozart, Monteverdi, Offenbach and of course, the famous Flower duet from Lakmé.

Prima Volta
With a varied line up each year Christine and friends (Martin Goodchild piano, Rebecca Hammond cello, Emma Fowler clarinet, Anthony Robb flute, and Ruth Furniss violin) uncover more rare musical treasures and present concerts in order to raise money for local charities.

Song Recitals

Accompanied by renowned pianist Adrian Hobbs, Christine has a number of song recitals in her repertoire.  With a vast range of music, including Lieder and French song, folk and 20th century English art songs, programmes can be planned to suit any occasion.

Opera Reviews

Tosca - Opera Holland Park
"Christine Bunning graced the title role with style and magnificence, in complete vocal command."

The Observer

"Christine Bunning who creates a highly-charged portrait of the heroine, is thrilling in her upper register and is simply electrifying at the climaxes."

The Metro

"Bunning is a gloriously passionate Tosca."

What's On

Adriana Lecouvreur - Opera Holland Park
"Adriana is sung with rich and glamorous tone by Christine Bunning – a kind of Tebaldi to Rosalind Plowright’s Callas."

Michael Tanner, The Spectator

Macbeth - Dorset Opera, Sherbourne
"Christine Bunning, who has sung Lady Macbeth with the Royal Opera at the Edinburgh Festival, showed the benefit of experience in an interpretation that met undaunted the fabled demands of the role. Her Brindisi sparkled malignantly, her Sleepwalking Scene deployed a range of pallid colours, and her calling up of the infernal spirits was valiant."

Opera Now

Ballo in Maschera - Opera Holland Park
"Christine Bunning looking like a young Josephine Barstow showed pure tone and shapely phrasing as Amelia."

The Independent

Gwendoline Chabrier - QEH Soouth Bank London
"Christine Bunning was both tireless and fearless as Gwendoline, negotiating the implacable tessitura with ease, thrilling in her big first act aria, meltingly beautiful in the spinning song."

Tim Ashley, The Guardian

 I Trittico - Broomhill Opera
"Suor Angelica is even better thanks to a heart-rending performance of the title role by Christine Bunning, who sings the her heart out in one of Puccini’s most rewarding – and exacting roles. Why this wonderful soprano is not booked up by the main British companies remains a complete mystery to me."

Hugh Canning, Sunday Times
